Suicidal behaviors among youth in Tanzania the focus of preliminary study

An abstract presented in Wellington, New Zealand during the 11th Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion (2012), highlighted the need for more attention to suicidal behaviors among young people in Tanzania. The results of the analyses, carried out by the PeerCorps Centre for Injury Prevention in Dar es Salaam, have been published online at: BMJ – Injury Prevention Journal.

Information on suicidal behaviors among young people in Tanzania is very limited. Further investigations are needed to understand the extent of the problem with the aim of informing public health initiatives focused on prevention.
